Yes. You have two options:
- Use it completely offline (no network): the on-device screen shows live readings without the app.
- Use a mobile hotspot instead of home/office Wi-Fi: great for travel or locations without internet.
Option 1 - Offline (no network)
- The monitor works standalone: CO₂, PM, TVOC, temperature, and humidity display on the screen.
- Features that need the app/cloud (history graphs, alerts, remote viewing, CSV export) won’t be available until you connect later.
Option 2 - Connect via a mobile hotspot (recommended on the road). You’ll need two devices:
- Device A: phone with cellular data providing the hotspot (2.4 GHz).
- Device B: second phone/tablet running the Breathe Tech app to add the Airmonitor.
Some phones can run the hotspot and the app on the same device, but the two-device method is the most reliable, especially on iOS.
Steps
- Turn on hotspot on Device A
- iPhone: Settings → Personal Hotspot → Allow Others to Join (enable “Maximize Compatibility” if shown to force 2.4 GHz).
- Android: Settings → Network/Connections → Hotspot → set Security = WPA2 and Band = 2.4 GHz.
- Note the hotspot name (SSID) and password.
- Join the hotspot on Device B
- Connect Device B to Device A’s hotspot using the SSID/password.
- Add the Airmonitor in the app (on Device B)
- Open Breathe Tech, tap “+ Add Device”, select Airmonitor Plus.
- When prompted for Wi-Fi, enter the hotspot’s SSID and password from Device A.
- Wait for the app to confirm connection.
- You’re set
- The Airmonitor will upload readings via the hotspot’s cellular data.
Important notes & tips
- 2.4 GHz only: Ensure the hotspot is broadcasting 2.4 GHz (not 5 GHz).
- Keep close: During setup, keep both phones and the Airmonitor within a few feet.
- Disable VPNs and battery-saver modes temporarily on the phone running the app.
- Data use: Data usage is small, but if you have data caps or are roaming, check with your carrier.
- Power: For continuous use, plug the Airmonitor into 5 V/2 A USB power.
